As members of the Aesthetics Domain, we work to visually amplify the energy and spirit of Aaroh—VIT Pune’s official music club. For its annual flagship music event, we design and transform the ambience to match the mood and rhythm of the performances, creating a vibrant, immersive space where music and visuals come alive in perfect harmony.

I joined Aaroh in my second year, simply driven by the wish to be a part of the music club and explore more of my creative side.
I joined Aaroh in my second year, simply driven by the wish to be a part of the music club and explore more of my creative side.
After a successful interview—and thanks to the work I had done in my first year—I was given the role of the only Aesthetics Coordinator, working under two Aesthetics Heads. We later recruited three more volunteers, making a small but dedicated team of six for the aesthetics domain.

The event was titled Serenade, and the theme this time was Retro. We started ideating quite early and came up with designs that included elements from classic retro pop culture. From vinyl records to cassette tapes and old-school televisions, everything was planned to match the theme’s nostalgic vibe.

However, we only received the materials two days before the event due to delays in the procurement process—which is usually quite hectic.
But even with limited time, the team’s energy remained high. We decided to cut down on some complex elements and focused on simpler, boxy structures that were quicker to build and still fit the theme well.

We also got help from members of other domains, and together, we managed to execute the setup just in time for the event. The final stage decoration turned out great and truly brought the retro theme to life.

This event became a learning curve for me—teaching me how to handle time pressure, adjust plans quickly, and still deliver a creative output that aligns with the vision.

In my third year, I took on the role of Aesthetics Head for Aaroh. With two coordinators and a bunch of creative volunteers by my side, the excitement to create something memorable was at its peak.

What made this year extra special was our collaboration with Viculp—the official theatre club of VIT Pune. A fusion of music and drama was something new and refreshing for everyone involved.

We titled the event "Vishwanaad – Swarion", envisioning a village where, for the very first time, a music concert is being held. Instead of the usual anchor format, we introduced two villagers who would come up on stage after every performance, gossip humorously, and unlock a new character each time.

This playful storytelling helped fill the technical breaks between band setups and kept the audience entertained. It was a creative escape from the repetitive cheering cues that had become a staple at college events.

Since music spans a wide variety of genres, I intentionally kept the aesthetic theme generic to allow freedom in song choices. I encouraged juniors to explore their own ideas and then helped curate the most practical and visually appealing ones for execution.

We did run into a major issue—lack of material. But thanks to the relationships I had built with members of other clubs over time, I managed to source leftover supplies from their past events.

I made it work without making the team feel like anything was missing. That, for me, was the most fulfilling part—making sure the team could stay creative without being limited by resources.

We wrapped up everything ahead of the deadline, and the aesthetics turned out beautifully—perfectly complementing the vibe of the event.

The event turned out to be a great success, thanks to its engaging format that blended music and humor effortlessly. The audience loved every bit of it, just as we had hoped.

Personally, it was a moment of reflection—I saw how much I had grown. Managing resources felt easy because of the connections I had built over time. What stood out most was watching the younger team work with such excitement; it taught me a lot and gave me a fresh perspective on creative ideation.
